BRENTWOOD, Tenn., – PrideSports confirms the winner of the PGA Tour’s Sony Open relied on the company’s Proflex® spikes in his Asics shoes to capture the victory at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii.
With the win, the 29-year-old Japanese standout now has 17 worldwide titles. After finishing regulation play in a tie for first place, he dramatically eagled the first playoff hole to get the win. Beyond the champion, 28 of the top-35 competitors in the field chose shoes with replaceable spikes over spikeless alternatives.
PrideSports is starting the year strong, as the company’s spikes were also worn by the winner of last week’s Sentry Tournament of Champions. Momentum has built coming out of 2021, with replaceable spikes being used by the winners of 32 PGA Tour events, including three of the four Major Championships, the Men’s Olympic Golf gold medalist and the majority competitors on both sides of the Ryder Cup. Similar product usage stats are true of the LPGA Tour, DP World Tour, PGA Tour Champions and Korn Ferry Tour.
“The Sony Open always draws a great field and it is no surprise that our spikes were trusted by both the winner and vast majority competitors at Waialae Country Club,” said Joe Henderson, President of PrideSports.
Replacement Softspikes® and CHAMP® cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.
PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP® and Softspikes® brands. The company recommends golfers change their cleats every six to eight months – or even more frequently based on use – to ensure golfers get the maximum performance out of their footwear.
CHAMP’s Helix®, Zarma Tour® and Stinger® cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix®, Pulsar®, Silver Tornado™ and Stealth® cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales. More information can be found at www.champspikes.com and www.Softspikes.com.
