Proponent Group Plans New Research and PGA Section Presentations on Business Value of Golf Instruction (BVGI)

HEATHROW, FL  –  Proponent Group, the golf company that coined the term “BVGI”—for Business Value of Golf Instruction—continues to expand the sharing of its findings with management companies, PGA and LPGA sections along with industry vendors, as interest in this data continues to grow.

Lorin Anderson, Proponent’s founder and president, has accepted speaking invitations from a half dozen PGA of America and LPGA Sections wishing to learn more about the benefits to golf facilities and the industry overall from golfer engagement through professional instruction.

“For a golfer, the experience of being guided along from a state of frustration to increasingly high levels of competence is pretty much life-changing,” Anderson points out. “It inspires people to play more, spend more, take golf trips, involve their families in golf, the whole gamut. Proponent Group set out to document this phenomenon and attach dollar figures to it—that’s what BVGI is all about,” he adds. “Over time our industry is coming to fully understand instruction’s power to engage more golfers at the facility level.”

The campaign to further explore and explain BVGI’s cause-effect relationships translates to an ever-growing focus on the POS systems but into golf management software. Individual management companies can customize their POS systems to flag lesson-takers and generate regular reports and analytics on their spending and other behaviors—some of them already do this.

“Tech advances and overall sophistication of these platforms have accelerated rapidly of late, as golf participation has surged,” Anderson points out. “BVGI, as a pillar of profitability at clubs and courses. is gaining momentum in tandem with that upgrade, all of which favors an expansion of data streams and a stronger link between great coaching and dramatically improved operating results. By extension this will further show the value created by the Proponent coaches we work with.”
