LANGER, MCCARRON AND MONTGOMERIE COMMIT TO THE OASIS CHAMPIONSHIP
First Full-Field Event on the PGA TOUR Champions will be February 4-10, 2019
Five-time Charles Schwab Cup Champion Bernhard Langer is joined by the other top three finishers in this year’s standings, Scott McCarron and Scott Parel as early commitments for February’s Oasis Championship at the Old Course at Broken Sound.
Langer has been Player of the Year on the PGA TOUR Champions a record seven times. The Boca Raton resident won the Oasis Championship in 2010, holing out for an eagle out of a plugged bunker lie to beat John Cook in a playoff and has 38 career titles on the 50-and-older tour.
“This is always one of my favorite tournaments of the year,” Langer said. “It’s great to have my family and friends come out and support me and it’s a wonderful week for the city.”
McCarron won the 2017 Oasis Championship with an eagle on the final hole, kickstarting a season where he won a career-best four times. McCarron added two more victories that year. Parel had two wins and two seconds in his last six starts to finish third in the Schwab Cup standings.
Also committing early to the Oasis Championship are Hall of Famer Colin Montgomerie, former major champion Hal Sutton and Jay Haas, who has played in more than 1,000 events on the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions.
Former British Open winner Mark Calcavecchia is the defending champion, rallying to beat Langer by two shots for his fourth PGA TOUR Champions title.
The Oasis Championship is offering an advance-purchase Foursome Value Pack that includes four any-day tickets to the tournament and four lunch vouchers for $95. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Kids 18 and under and fans 70 and older, with proper ID, are admitted free.
The 2019 Oasis Championship (February 4-10) is the first full-field event of the PGA TOUR Champions season, and it will be played at the Old Course at Broken Sound for the 13th consecutive year. For more information about the Oasis Championship visit www.oasischampionship.com.
