As part of a continued effort to give back to the community, PTE Golf is donating over $8,000 in product to the Orange County Special Olympics program. PTE Golf is donating ice chests, golf clubs, and golf tees to the organization in the hopes of furthering the athletes’ passions for golf.
The Special Olympics is a nonprofit organization that provides sports training and competitions for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Focusing on a wide variety of Olympic-type sports, the Special Olympics helps tens of thousands of athletes develop their skills and showcase their talents each year. Athletes of all ability levels are welcomed; whether they are higher-functioning or more severely challenged, the Special Olympics provides athletes an opportunity to raise public awareness about their capabilities while also having fun and showcasing their skills.
This is a cause that is particularly important to Matt Pollitt, CEO of PTE Golf. Pollitt has been volunteering with the Special Olympics for half a decade as a coach for Special Olympics Orange County Golf. Leading practices once a week at Rio Pinar Country Club, Pollitt instructs over a dozen athletes of varying skill levels, teaching the game of golf and guiding practice for upcoming events and competitions.
“We just had our Area Games for Central Florida, and I was blown away by the talent that everybody displayed,” says Pollitt, who also serves as a Unified Partner for one of the Special Olympics’ on-course athletes. “These athletes are nothing short of incredible, and I am honored to be able to help the cause.”
“We are so appreciative of PTE Golf’s generous donation to our program. We always value community partnerships and it’s even more special that Matt is a coach in our programs. We’ve loved having him around, and all the ways that his company has supported the program over the years,” says Laurie Chmielewski, training director for the Special Olympics Orange County.
PTE Golf encourages anyone who sees this, to check out the Special Olympics website and consider making a donation of their own—whether you are volunteering or making a monetary donation, it is a worthy cause. Special Olympics of Florida’s website: https://www.specialolympicsflorida.org/central.
