PURE Insurance Surprises Junior With Invitation to the First Tee College Scholarship Program

September 18, 2026

The special moment took place at the 2026 PURE Insurance Championship, a PGA TOUR Champions event that pairs First Tee participants with golf legends

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Leaders from PURE Insurance surprised First Tee – Metropolitan New York’s Nyah Roccamonte-Clark with an invitation to the First Tee College Scholarship Program on Thursday. PURE Insurance is a longtime supporter of the First Tee College Scholarship Program and title sponsor of this week’s PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach, where Roccamonte-Clark is paired with two-time major winner Zach Johnson in his first appearance at the tournament.

Roccamonte-Clark began playing golf at age 5 when her grandparents, who worked at Plainfield West Nine in Edison, New Jersey, enrolled her in the course’s First Tee program. Now, she’s the No. 1 player on her high school golf team and a First Tee junior coach. She finished 15th at the 2026 First Tee National Championship at the University of North Carolina, a competitive tournament that brings together the top players across the First Tee network.

Off the course, she completed 225 hours of community service last year, participates in her school’s STEM Connections Club and maintains a 4.0 GPA. She aspires to pursue a career in sports psychology.

Launched in 2020, the First Tee College Scholarship Program has served nearly 150 First Tee Scholars, who receive mentorship, professional development opportunities and financial support.

This year marks PURE Insurance’s 10th year as title sponsor of the PURE Insurance Championship Impacting First Tee. Over that time, PURE’s relationship with First Tee has grown well beyond the tournament, with PURE employees and business leaders across the country working closely with local chapters to provide professional development opportunities for First Tee juniors.

“The First Tee juniors are what make this tournament so meaningful for all of us at PURE,” said Martin Leitch, CEO of PURE Insurance. “Nyah is an exceptional young woman who stands out for her character, leadership and commitment to others. We’re excited to support her and watch as she continues to pursue her goals.”

First Tee is a youth development organization that uses golf to teach life skills and build character. Members of the First Tee College Scholarship Program are selected based on their commitment to school, First Tee and their community.

“The PURE Insurance Championship is an unforgettable experience for all 80 juniors in the field. We are grateful for PURE’s support of this tournament and the First Tee College Scholarship Program,” said First Tee CEO Greg McLaughlin. “Congratulations to Nyah on this well-earned honor, and we look forward to welcoming her into the program.”

The First Tee College Scholarship Program is made possible by donors and corporate partners, like PURE Insurance, who stand behind the program and First Tee’s mission.
