Congratulations to Ashleigh! She has had a few wins on the European Tour but has played the LPGA for 15 years without a win. However, she has been honing her game and finally used these driving, sand, iron play and putting skills to withstand the pressures of an LPGA major. Ashleigh got her first Putting Arc in 2009 and an MS-3D in 2014 and her clutch putting on many short putts when she needed it most was very impressive.
If you are an Ashleigh fan it was a very good weekend of TV golf!
The tournament was held at Muirfield Golf Club in Gullane, Scotland. It is the home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers which was formed in 1744 and is the first known golf club. Muirfield never even had women members until just a few years ago. This spectacular course was designed in 1891 by Old Tom Morris and the colors and beauty of the surrounding Scottish countryside made for a great TV presentation.
Congrats also to world #1 amateur Rose Zhang. She was the only amateur to make the cut at the AIG Women’s Open, finished T-30 and won the Smyth Salver silver plate awarded to the low amateur.
Finally congrats to Jerry Kelly on his Champions Tour win at Shaw Charity Classic, his third win of the season.
