The Putting Arc’s Winning Athletes
Congratulations to Cohen Trolio for his first round match play win at the USGA Men’s Amateur at Pinehurst #2. He won the last hole for a 2 up win over Trevor Werbylo of Tucson, Arizona.
Cohen is a high school student in West Point, Mississippi and he plays at Old Waverly Golf Club, home course of the Putting Arc. He qualified for the Men’s Am by winning the Mississippi qualifier at Reunion Golf Club in Jackson with a 10 under score of 134. He then made match play by finishing T44 in the 36 hole medal play portion of the tournament, held Monday and Tuesday at Pinehurst #2 and #4. Way to go Cohen!
The match play portion of the Men’s Am will be covered by FS1, and if their coverage is anywhere as good as was at the Women’s Am at Old Waverly, it will be exceptional.
Congratulations also to MJ Hur for her win at the Scottish Open on the LPGA Tour and to Abraham Ancer for his second place finish at the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust, the first FedEx Cup playoff event.
Finally, congratulations to Gage Weeks from Evans, GA and Abby Newton from Statesboro, GA for their win at the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour’s TPC Sawgrass Junior Classic last weekend. Gage shot rounds of 75-71 and Abby shot 78-78 to claim their wins.
