Jin Young Ko started out four shots behind in the final round at the Cognizant Founders Cup, played at the Upper Montclair CC in Clifton, NJ. She then shot a five-under 67 when the average score was two shots over par. This included clutch sandy par putts on 16 and 17, and a must-make long birdie putt on 18 to get into a playoff with Minjee Lee.
On the first playoff hole she hit the green in regulation, then made a great lag putt and tap-in par to win for the second time this year and for the 15th time on the LPGA Tour.
With this win she has fully overcome a wrist injury that set her back all of last year. She is again playing the kind of golf that carried her to over 100 consecutive weeks at the top of the Rolex rankings. Jin Young is behind only Lorena Ochoa on this list of great woman golfers. During this period she set the career record for greens in regulation (77.4%) and once played 116 consecutive holes without a bogey.
