“Queen Victoria, Golf & Chivas Regal”
Our latest “Links & Drinks” blog page features Queen Victoria and Chivas Regal.
Between 1867 and 1895, Queen Victoria granted 17 golf courses “Royal” status. In the 1850s Queen Victoria & Prince Albert built Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands.
The royal enthusiasm for Scotland, the much improved transport links and the writings of Sir Walter Scott caused a boom for tourism in Scotland. This period also coincided with the development of the Gutta Percha golf ball.
