Pro Turf International Completes Range Expansion, Beautification At Red Rock

But a year or so ago Red Rock General Manager Thom Blinkinsop decided that something was missing from this near perfect scene.
“We needed a little beautification work done on the front end,” said Blinkinsop. “Some of the plants were struggling and the entire entrance area was looking tired. It just needed a little freshening up. Plus we wanted to give the driving range a more private and exclusive look. Make it a more welcoming place for members to relax while they are hitting balls.”
So he turned to Pro Turf International, the company he had hired in 2013 to oversee all golf course maintenance operations. Pro Turf International is an industry leader in golf course construction, renovation, maintenance and landscaping based in Las Vegas, and Blinkinsop once said hiring PTI was “probably the best decision I’ve ever made.”
He laid out his concerns and the PTI team, led by Golf Course Superintendent George Folopoulos and Regional Superintendent Jared Bumpus, went to work. They cleaned out the old foliage and installed landscape rock along the entire road to the clubhouse. They then added pockets of colorful shrubs and plants along the road, definitely giving the entranceway the fresh look Blinkinsop had envisioned.
The work on the driving range was a little more extensive. The team had to reshape a portion of the hillside beside the practice area to create about 20 more feet of hitting space on the range. They then brought in large boulders and approximately four-dozen plants to stabilize and beautify the driving range surrounds.
So far response from the 800-string Red Rock membership has been positive, “Actually I am surprised by the number of positive comments we have received from members so soon after the job,” said Folopoulos. “It looks pretty nice now, but wait until the plants have had a chance to grow in some. The members are really going to like it then.”
Blinkinsop was highly complimentary of the work done by the Pro Turf International team.
“PTI did a great job,” he said. “They completed the work so it wasn’t a hassle for my members to get around. The entrance was never blocked, and with the job on the range, they did the work in a way to make sure the members weren’t inconvenienced.”
And he was pleased with the outcome.
“Everyone seems very happy with the additions,” said Blinkinsop. “It definitely gives us a fresher look. You need to make sure the doorstep looks good before you get into the house.”
