Registration now open for free contest taking place at Carter Plantation and Old Corkscrew Golf Courses

AUSTIN, TX – ReelGOLF® announced today that registration is now open for players interested in taking part in a Closest-to-the-Pin competition scheduled for Saturday, March 8, at Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Florida (hole no. 17), designed by Jack Nicklaus, and David Tom’s Carter Plantation Golf Resort in Louisiana (hole no. 14).

ReelGOLF is an on-course video system that not only captures player shots on signature par 3 holes for easy social sharing, but can also run accurate and automated par 3 challenges like Closest-to-the-Pin – simultaneously engaging players while generating course revenue. Now, the ReelGOLF team is using its AI technology to host cross-course competitions for players who think they have what it takes to win it all.

Registration for the competition is open now through Thursday, March 6. Teams of two to four players are being accepted, and there is no fee or buy-in to participate. The best shot out of each team will be used, with the closest shot overall deemed the winner. The winning team will receive a $1,000 cash prize, plus a $500 bonus prize for their respective pro shop. To register, players must purchase a tee time and then follow the instructions at this link.

“Since we installed the ReelGOLF technology, we’ve seen an uptick in player rounds, excitement and participation in Daily Challenges,” said Bobby Waters, Owner of Carter Plantation. “We know this multi-course competition will only bring more visibility to the fun that ReelGOLF brings to our course and players.”

So how does it work? ReelGOLF’s AI-enabled video technology is used to find and measure the golf ball’s distance to the pin within less than half a ball (18 millimeters), enabling accurate and automated measurement of each player’s shot. For this competition, players will register a Team and then simply scan a QR code at the tee box when they arrive at the designated par 3 hole, follow the easy prompts, and take their shot. Players can check their course’s website to view the leaderboard and confirm the final winning team after the tournament.

The long-term goal of the multi-course competitions is to get more players engaged in these friendly challenges across the country (and the world), while generating additional revenue for course owners. This competition innovation is coming at a perfect time as the golf world turns their attention to tech-forward initiatives like Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL), which mixes traditional golf with indoor golf simulation.

“Everyone loves a little friendly competition, and we can’t wait to see how the addition of the ReelGOLF technology on our course adds another layer of engagement to our player experience,” said Zane Skiles of Old Corkscrew. “Having the ability to accurately track the ball in an automated way like this on the course is revolutionary in itself, but being able to host these challenges with other courses across the country takes things to a whole new level.”

ReelGOLF installations are up and running or scheduled at several other properties, including The Hay at Pebble Beach, a Tiger Woods and TGR Design course; Payne’s Valley at Big Cedar Lodge, another TGR Design course; Seascape Golf Club in California, designed by Garret and David Gill; Druids Glen in Ireland; and several courses throughout Scotland.
