The Reserve Club Celebrates 20th Anniversary With MAJOR Clubhouse Renovation and Other Upgrades
Iconic Palm Springs-area private community remains true to principles of intimacy, environmental stewardship, and camaraderie
The Reserve Club — the Coachella Valley’s premier private golf and luxury lifestyle club – has kicked off its 20th season, which includes a full slate of special events for members, their families, and guests.
Developers Robert J. Lowe and Ted R. Lennon of Lowe Enterprises began visualizing a special place in the Valley amidst the stunning Santa Rosa Mountains and in close proximity to the myriad of Palm Desert activities back in the 1980s. From the beginning, Lowe and Lennon were committed to protecting and enhancing the sensitive desert ecosystem, and it took 10 years of planning, permitting, and careful construction to open the club in November 1998.
Among the key features of the newly opened Reserve Club were a Tom Weiskopf/Jay Morrish-designed golf course, three additional “trophy holes,” and double-ended practice range, all laying seamlessly among thousands of native trees and shrubs, many of which were protected during construction.
The center of club life then and now is The Reserve Club Village, anchored by a 30,000-square-foot, Tuscan-style Clubhouse that features dining and socializing venues, terraces, wine cellar, bar, library, and men’s and women’s locker rooms with lounges. The Club Village also comprises a Fitness Center, Golf Shop, and the Lakehouse for casual dining.
To mark The Reserve’s 20 years, the Clubhouse is undergoing a complete restyling. The transformation includes enhancement of its interiors, new dining and entertainment experiences, including expanded outdoor terraces, multipurpose alfresco kitchen, extensive new bar and casual spaces, improved special event areas, all which provide for more gathering and socializing opportunities. The new dining and social spaces are designed to take advantage and highlight the club’s magnificent down-Valley views of surrounding mountain ranges and the golf course. The existing Tuscan-style architecture was maintained throughout the new design. Interiors include new flooring, fixtures, stunning artwork, accented with a mix of modern and traditional furniture.
The newly enhanced clubhouse is scheduled to officially reopen in late January 2019.
Other improvements to the club amenities include extensive work on the golf course’s irrigation system with the goal of preserving premium fairway turf conditions and the quality of the bentgrass greens while reducing the amount of water usage.
But some things will never change at The Reserve Club. Holding true to the guiding principles set down by Lowe, Lennon, and the other Founding Members, the club remains dedicated to familiarity and friendship, promoting an active lifestyle for an exclusive yet involved membership, and protecting the natural desert environment.
The club offers golf and social memberships for both residents of The Reserve and non-residents seeking to enjoy the amenities, events and activities, personalized service, and genuine camaraderie the members enjoy and value. Memberships include equity and non-equity, along with a membership for individuals between the ages of 21 and 49.
