Stafford, Va. – Middle Atlantic PGA (MAPGA) Golf Professional Rick Schuller, the Director of Instruction at Meadowbrook Country Club in Richmond, VA, defended his Senior Open of Virginia title on September 9th at Independence Golf Club, in Midlothian, VA. He defeated a field of 72 amateurs and professionals aged 50 and over who all qualified for the event, including runner-up and fellow PGA of America Golf Professional, Jimmy Flippen (Waterfront Golf Club), by one shot after rounds of 69-72 for a total score of -3.
With the victory, Schuller becomes the Senior Open of Virginia’s first four-time winner, and the first PGA of America Golf Professional to win back-to-back championships.
“Rick is a Hall of Fame Member of the MAPGA and one of the most highly accomplished players within our Section,” said Jon Guhl, Executive Director, Middle Atlantic PGA. “Winning the Senior Open of Virginia for a fourth time continues his legacy and is another milestone in a storied career.
