Hardeeville, South Carolina – Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club in Hardeeville shined while hosting the 2025 Women’s BIG EAST Golf Championships as spectators, coaches, and golfers raved about course conditions, the warm hospitality and attentiveness of staff and volunteers. The award-winning private club hosted the Women’s BIG EAST Golf Championships April 18 – 21, with Xavier University claiming the team championship (their sixth straight BIG EAST title) and Xavier’s Emma Welch winning the individual championship.
2025 marked the third consecutive year Riverton Pointe has hosted the BIG EAST Golf Championships, previously hosting the Men’s and Women’s Championship in 2023, and the Men’s Championship in 2024. From scoring to shuttling, more than 40 Riverton Pointe Members volunteered their time, effort, and support to help make the event run smoothly and efficiently. The Riverton Pointe agronomy, golf operations and food and beverage teams executed another top-tier event that was well received by players, coaches, and spectators.
“Riverton Pointe is a perfect place for our BIG EAST Championship,” said Xavier Head Women’s Golf Coach Breanna Jenco. “The course has been in great shape for the event, providing smooth true putting greens and fairways that run out, causing some fun long tee balls, but also running balls into trouble if you aren’t careful. There is a lot of course management strategy that goes into a game plan at the course. The community at Riverton Pointe also brought great energy and excitement to the event that provided a perfect championship atmosphere! We appreciate everything!”
Six BIG EAST schools participated in the Women’s Golf Championships, including Butler, Creighton, Georgetown, St. John’s, Seton Hall and Xavier. With the victories, Xavier and Welch gained automatic invitations to the 2025 NCAA Championship, qualifying for the Columbus Regional at OSU Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio May 5-7.
“Congratulations to all of the athletes who played in the Women’s BIG EAST Golf Championships,” said Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club General Manager Gary Otto. “”It was truly an honor to serve as the host site for the Women’s BIG EAST Golf Championship. We take great pride in showcasing our beautiful course, top-notch facilities, and the dedicated, knowledgeable staff who help make every event a success. Our welcoming membership community adds to the special atmosphere that makes Riverton Pointe such a unique place.”
