Former PGA of America National Teacher of the Year
Offers Elite Programs for Members, Non-Members
(GAINESVILLE, Va.) – Robert Trent Jones Golf Club (RTJGC) – the world-renowned private club outside of Washington D.C. that has hosted four Presidents Cup tournaments – names Mike McGetrick as Director of Instruction, a position wherein the award-winning teacher offers numerous programs for both members and non-members at the club’s state-of-the-art practice facility.
Among the most highly acclaimed instructors in the world, McGetrick has been named a PGA of America National Teacher of the Year, five-time PGA Section Teacher of the Year and is consistently ranked one of Golf Digest’s “50 Greatest Teachers in America” and GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Teachers in America.” His students include players on the PGA Tour, LPGA and PGA Tour Champions who have a combined 53 worldwide wins as well as 11 Major Championships.
McGetrick’s proven approach to teaching involves exploring a student’s golf background, goals and physical capabilities while working closely with them to determine what is needed to take their games to the next level. RTJGC’s immaculate practice facility is designed to simulate every shot a golfer could encounter on the course. It includes a manicured grass range with strategic targets, a short game area with five green complexes varying in size and contours with bunkers, different grass heights and uneven lies to simulate real-world scenarios, as well as a learning center featuring five indoor/outdoor hitting bays.
“The practice area at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club is absolutely world-class and I’m excited to help golfers from the D.C. region improve and enjoy their game even more,” said McGetrick. “Being able to offer my services to both members and non-members is a tremendous perk, as I get to help players from all backgrounds reach their full potential.”
Students can select from a variety of services, including individual lessons, packages, or half and full-day training sessions. He incorporates modern technology into his instruction, utilizing Trackman launch monitors, Swing Catalyst video analysis, and force plate to capture technical data on student performance. Beyond instruction, McGetrick offers premium club-fittings to ensure his players are using the best equipment.
“Having Mike as Director of Instruction further bolsters our reputation as one of the nation’s leading private clubs and provides a unique resource to members and golfers in the area who want the absolute best,” says Matt Freitag, RTJGC’s Director of Golf. “Golf is a difficult game, but working with a coach who has the qualifications Mike brings to the table will have an immediate and positive impact on players of all skill levels.”
