Sean Toohey Named PGA General Manager at New Jersey National Golf Club
Empire Golf Management today announced that Sean Toohey, PGA Head Professional at New Jersey National Golf Club (Basking Ridge, N.J.), has been promoted to PGA General Manager. A privately owned country club nestled in the lush meadows of the Watchung Mountains, New Jersey National is home to a private 18-hole Championship golf course, premier practice facility and the popular Red Oak Grille, a casually elegant public restaurant and bar that is located at the facility.
In his new role, Toohey (of Morris Plains, NJ) will be responsible for all aspects of club operations, including management of the Red Oak Grille. Toohey, who has served as the PGA Head Golf Professional at New Jersey National for the past 14 years, will start his new position on January 1, 2019, taking over for Pierre Bohemond, who is retiring after 11 years of service.
Toohey recently achieved advanced certification in General Management through the PGA of America’s Certified Professional Program 2.0 (CPP 2.0) – an educational program to further enhance the skillset of PGA Professionals – further preparing him for this new management position. Throughout their career, ongoing training, education advancement and professional development are required for PGA Members to continually meet the needs of the golf industry. This ensures PGA Members not only maintain operational excellence at PGA facilities, but that PGA Professionals are regarded as the highest qualified and most respected leaders in the industry.

As part of his General Manager duties, Toohey will direct all member programming as Membership to New Jersey National also includes privileges at Pine Barrens Golf Club (Jackson, N.J.), its sister golf course located near the Jersey shore, as well as Twisted Dune Golf Club (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J.), one of the premier public courses in the region.
