Johns Creek, GA. – Shawn Koch, PGA, has been named Director of Instruction at Atlanta Athletic Club, it was announced by David Sheppard, COO and General Manager.
In his new position, Koch will oversee the R.T. Jones, Jr. Instruction Center, a state-of-the-art, indoor/outdoor year-round golf instruction center with a top-notch teaching and learning program. The Center offers extensive club fitting services featuring multiple manufacturers’ systems, as well as the latest teaching and fitness technologies.
“Shawn has committed himself to being a lifelong student of the game and we are thrilled to have him join the Atlanta Athletic Club family,” said Sheppard. “His deep respect and understanding of all aspects of golf align closely with the club’s rich golf and championship history.”
For the past 17 years, Koch served as Director of Instruction at The Country Club of the South. He has won multiple teaching awards and takes great pride in his player development programs. His students have ranged from PGA and LPGA Tour players, collegiate golfers, elite junior golfers, club champions, and men, ladies, and juniors of all handicaps.
Koch learned under the tutelage of this father, a life member of the PGA. A native of Howell, Michigan, he achieved success as a junior golfer resulting in an opportunity to play for East Tennessee State University, which was ranked #1 in the country at the time. As a tournament player, he has had success at every level with wins in both amateur and professional events.
