Capture and Analyze Data from Thousands of Golfer Worldwide Every Day
Edinburgh, UK – Shot Scope, a leading international manufacturer of GPS-based golf management systems, including the award-winning V3 Smart Golf Watch, today released the 2021 Strokes Gained e-book, a 4th Edition resource guide available free for golfers to better understand the importance of analyzing strokes gained vs. traditional swing statistics. The new e-book is available at https://shotscope.com/golf-ebooks/
“Strokes gained is a way of analyzing where a player sits when comparing every aspect of their performance with other players within a dataset,” said David Hunter, CEO, Shot Scope. “Through our 2021 e-book and our overall performance tracking platform, and based on swing data captured from thousands of golfers around the world who use our GPS Smart Watches, this approach to performance analysis allows golfers to gain a greater understanding of areas within of their game they may need to work on to improve their overall scoring average. This is accomplished by isolating individual aspects of a player’s game and comparing it to the entire Shot Scope dataset to deliver efficient results.”
Among the key information featured in the 2021 Shot Scope e-book is a complete benchmarking of traditional performance statistics, comparing golfers of handicap levels and how they perform in the following areas: Average Score to Par; Fairways in Regulation; Greens in Regulation; Short Game Up & Down; Average Putts Per round; and Average Number of Penalty Shots Per Round. This is followed by a detailed analysis on the limitations of these traditional statistics, as well as an in-depth presentation on strokes gained and how to best evaluate data for marked game improvement.
Adds Hunter, “Thanks to the performance tracking capabilities of our smart golf watches, thousands of golfers have reduced their handicaps, and resources like the 2021 e-book provide proof to the importance of analyzing strokes gained for measurable improvement.”
The release of the 2021 e-book is a prelude to a series of upgrades to Shot Scope’s performance tracking platform that enables users to review ‘strokes gained’ data for all facets of their game on the Company’s mobile app, which also includes new performance pages, round overviews and social features. Users can now evaluate strokes gained for tee shots, approaches, short game, putting for individual rounds and includes filters such as the last five or 10 rounds.
A soon-to-be-released feature with Shot Scope’s strokes gained tracking system integrates trends and insights to support golfer performance. This will allow Shot Scope to break down front-nine and back-nine strokes gained data, while providing more in-depth analysis on each quantifiable category. For example, information on tee shots over a period of time, tee-to-green statistics and tee shots by hole distance (the same sub-categories will apply to approaches, short game and putting).
A final phase of upgrades will allow Shot Scope users to benchmark their performance against golfers of a similar handicap. Initially this will be in categories of 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25, with more specific handicap updates being made available via software updates in the future. All upgrades are expected to be introduced by June 2021.
“These upgrades represent really important progression for our performance tracking platform, as we have taken user-feedback on board and have acknowledged that strokes gained is a hugely important aspect of game improvement,” said Hunter. “The ability for golfers to assess their game against others at the touch of a button will really help them to identify areas of their game that need to be developed, ultimately helping them play better golf.”
The centerpiece of all Shot Scope performance tracking, and one of 2020’s breakthrough golf innovations with an industry-leading $219 price, is the V3 Smart Golf Watch which features artificial intelligence that makes real-time swing performance tracking and distance measuring easier, faster and more accurate than ever before. Backed by patented Power-Sense AI strap technology that captures data on every shot, V3 delivers golfers instant feedback to better understand their swing and reach optimal performance. The technology creates an ever-increasing volume and accuracy of data collected from the golfer during play, leading to more insights and statistics that help the player understand their game better, improve on-course strategy and shoot lower scores. The more rounds the golfer plays with V3, the smarter the AI technology becomes, eventually producing highly refined individual golfer settings.
