Roseville, California – Sierra View Country Club members Lynne Cowan and Karen Garcia have qualified for the 2026 U.S. Senior Women’s Open after securing the top two spots at the qualifying event held at El Macero Country Club on June 22. The U.S. Senior Women’s Open championship is scheduled for August 20–23 at Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) Hall of Famer and six-time NCGA senior player of the year, Cowan earned medalist honors with an even-par 72, while Garcia, the reigning Senior Women’s Player of the Year, finished second with a 1-over-par 73. Their performances led a field where four players advanced to the national championship.
Cowan, holding a GHIN Index of 0.2, has claimed the Sierra View Ladies Club Championship five times between 2018 and 2024. She collaborates with the ladies’ golf program to coordinate participation in NCGA events and other external competitions. Cowan and her husband, Carl, have been Sierra View members for over 12 years.
Garcia, with a GHIN Index of +0.2, is the reigning NCGA Senior Women’s Champion and has been the Sierra View Ladies Club Champion in 2021, 2023, and 2025. In 2015, she won the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship at Hillwood Country Club in Nashville, Tennessee. Garcia actively contributes to the club as the Ladies Rules Committee Chair and serves on the Greens Committee, focusing on enhancing the course experience for female players. Garcia and her husband, Ruben, have been Sierra View members for nearly six years.
