SILVER CREEK VALLEY COUNTRY CLUB’S KEN DEHART INDUCTED TO PROFESSIONAL TENNIS REGISTRY HALL OF FAME
Silver Creek Valley Country Club’s Director of Tennis, Ken DeHart was recently inducted to the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Hall of Fame. DeHart was honored at the PTR’s annual Awards Banquet in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
“Ken is as committed to Silver Creek Valley Country Club as he is to the tennis industry,” said Barrett Eiselman, general manager, Silver Creek Valley Country Club. “We are very proud of his accomplishment of being inducted into the PTR Hall of Fame and are very fortunate to have him as part of our team.”
Silver Creek Valley Country Club’s tennis program is recognized as one of top programs in the Bay Area. The club’s sunken stadium court is a beautiful venue for both recreational and competitive play. Silver Creek Valley offers six tennis courts with lights, a ball machine, and a practice wall. With over 15 USTA teams, drop-in play, clinics, and numerous social mixers there is something for everyone.
A charter member of the PTR, DeHart was certified by Dennis Van der Meer in 1974, making him the third coach in that class to be inducted to the PTR Hall of Fame (Van der Meer and Dr. Louie Cap are the other two.) DeHart is also one of the original eight PTR International Master Professionals and was the first fulltime Executive Director of PTR. Currently DeHart serves on the PTR Board of Directors.
A PTR Clinician for more than 40 years, DeHart is a USA High Performance Coach and has been a string tester for the USRSA – United States Racquet Stringers Association – for 25 years. He serves as the PTR representative for Northern California and was among the first mentors in PTR’s Mentoring Program. He has had countless articles published in ADDvantage, Tennis View, Inside Tennis and TennisPro magazines. He co-wrote the International Book of Drills with Dennis Van der Meer, and he produced eight DVDs to educate other coaches on topics such as drills, mental toughness, strategy and tactics.
An accomplished player, DeHart has medaled at both Nike World Senior Games and Huntsman World Senior Games, and has captured gold four times in the Bay Area Senior Games.
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,500 members in 125 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
