SILVERADO RESORT TO HOST NAPA OPEN.
Silverado Resort and Spa will host the Napa Open, a new 54-hole individual stroke-play golf tournament open to both men and women, professionals and amateurs with a United States Golf Association handicap index of five or less. Scheduled for January 16-19, 2019, the Napa Open is the brainchild of Andy Miller, son of Silverado Resort and Spa owner Johnny Miller.
The three-day tournament will be contested on Silverado Resort and Spa’s North and South courses. The entry fee for the Napa Open is $800 for professionals or $400 for amateurs. The entry fee includes green fees, cart fee and range balls. Amateurs may win up to a maximum of $750 and will be paid in the form of a gift card to Silverado Resort and Spa. The registration deadline is January 6th at 6 pm or once the first 100 players register.
“Our goal is for the Napa Open to grow into a tournament that is unique in the state and in the country,” said Miller. “There are a lot of mini tour events out there, but not a lot in January. We hope to get 100 golfers to play in the event this first year.”
Andy Miller was a decorated collegiate golfer during his time at BYU and is a member of the BYU Hall of Fame. While at BYU, Miller was a four-time NCAA All-American, was the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, and was named to the All-Conference team three times. Today, Miller assists his dad, a 25-time champion on the PGA TOUR and the tournament host of the PGA TOUR’s Safeway Open at Silverado, in the golf course design business.
Silverado Resort and Spa is Napa Valley’s only 36-hole golf resort. The 7,166-yard, par 72 North Course annually hosts the Safeway Open, while the 6,612-yard, par 72 South Course is a favorite among resort guests. Both courses were designed by Johnny Miller. In addition to two 18-hole, Silverado features 340 guest rooms, a full service Spa, 10 tennis courts and 10 swimming pools, all in close proximity to Napa Valley’s 540-plus wineries.
