Slammer & Squire at World Golf Village To Celebrate 20-Year Anniversary
St. Augustine, Fla. – The Slammer & Squire golf course at World Golf Village is commemorating its 20th anniversary with an engaging 20-day celebration that includes a golf festival, golf tournament, photo contest, story contest, as well as numerous prizes and giveaways. The 20-day Slammer & Squire celebration kicks-off on September 23rd and lasts through October 14th.
The Slammer & Squire course, which opened in 1998, has become a must-play course among local and destination golfers over the last 20 years. The award-winning course was designed by architect Bobby Weed along with World Golf Hall of Fame members Sam Snead (the “Slammer”) and Gene Sarazen (the “Squire”). The three men shared a desire to build a golf course that would preserve the area’s natural beauty and reward good shot-making. This well-groomed course showcases the pristine, unspoiled wooded areas and wetlands along with providing impressive views of the World Golf Hall of Fame & Museum. Over the last 20 years, the golf course has hosted the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, the LPGA Senior Tour’s Handa Cup, and the ANNIKA Invitational USA. Golf operations at the World Golf Village are managed by Troon’s Honours Golf Division.
Beginning on September 23rd, members and guests are encouraged to share their stories and photos from their favorite World Golf Village moments on the Slammer & Squire’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and website. Submitted photos and memories will be entered in a 20th Anniversary Giveaway and voted on in real-time, starting on September 23 and ending on October 12. Shared photos and memories will also find their place on the Memory Wall set up at the clubhouse.
The celebratory festivities will culminate the weekend of October 13th with a weekend full of fun activities at the World Golf Village’s Golf Festival. The festival will offer activities for the entire family ranging from a Family Fun Zone area and golf demos to instructional golf clinics, free admission to the World Golf Hall of Fame, and a Hole-in-One contest. The Legends Grille at Slammer & Squire will be joining the festivities by serving food and beverage specials for $19.98 along with food and beverage menu inspired from the late 90s.
On Sunday, October 14th, the Slammer & Squire will host a fun and full-of-frills celebratory Be A Legend Golf Tournament where golfers of all skill levels may enjoy 18-holes of golf with chances for prizes and giveaways on every hole.
