ONTARIO, CALIF. – The Southern California PGA (SCPGA) is proud to announce the appointment of Darren Merrihew as the Section’s new Partnership Manager.
A seasoned leader with a diverse background in both the golf industry and high-level sales management, Merrihew brings a unique blend of expertise to the SCPGA team. Merrihew joins the SCPGA with over a decade of experience in leadership, revenue growth, and strategic relationship building.
Most recently, he spent several years within the Wine and Spirits industry with Constellation Brands and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (SGWS), where he served in key roles such as Field Sales Manager and District Manager. During his tenure, he was frequently recognized for excellence, earning “Field Sales Manager of the Quarter” honors at Constellation Brands and “District Manager of the Quarter” at SGWS. While Merrihew’s recent career has been defined by success in the beverage alcohol sector, he is no stranger to the fairways.
He is a former club professional and general manager with deep roots in the Southern California golf community, having previously served at Dove Canyon Country Club, Recreation Park, and Coyote Hills. As a passionate golfer, his personal favorite courses include St. Andrews, Pacific Dunes, and LACC.
“I’m really excited to be back in the game of golf with a new perspective that will help our PGA members and partners grow,” said Merrihew.
In his new role as Partnership Manager, Merrihew will leverage his extensive background in account management, trade marketing, and data-driven strategy to enhance SCPGA partnerships and provide measurable results for the section’s stakeholders. His proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage complex distributor and retail relationships will be an asset as the SCPGA continues to expand its reach and support for its members.
Beyond his professional achievements, Merrihew brings a strong foundation of hard work and heritage to the role, coming from a family that has operated a cattle ranch in Nebraska for 110 years. A dedicated fan of the Lakers, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Leadership & Organizational Studies from Azusa Pacific University. Merrihew currently resides in Long Beach, CA, with his wife, Holly, and their two children, Quinn (16) and Colin (14). Still active on the course, he maintains a 2.3 handicap.
