Another Major Title for Softspikes, While PGA Tour Run Reaches 30 Weeks

August 4, 2026

Brentwood, Tenn.,   – Replaceable spikes delivered another major championship victory at the AIG Women’s Open, while also extending their remarkable PGA TOUR winning streak to 30 consecutive weeks.

The AIG Women’s Open champion trusted Nike footwear fitted with Silver Tornado spikes during a dramatic final-round and playoff victory at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

Starting the day three shots off the lead, the eventual champion produced a one-under-par 70 to reach five under for the championship before securing the title on the second extra hole. The victory was a first major championship title and provided further evidence of the role traction continues to play when conditions and pressure are at their most demanding.

On the PGA TOUR, the Rocket Classic winner wore adidas footwear featuring Thintech spikes to secure a maiden title by two shots.

A bogey-free final-round 63 included four birdies over a decisive six-hole stretch, before a 26-foot birdie putt on the final green completed the victory at 18 under par.

The result means every week of the 2026 PGA TOUR season has now featured a winner competing in replaceable spikes, extending the run to 30 consecutive weeks.

Replaceable traction was also the overwhelming choice across the leaderboard, with 43 of the top 49 finishers selecting replaceable Softspikes rather than spikeless or tennis-style footwear.

The success continued on PGA TOUR Champions, where the Portugal Invitational winner trusted FootJoy footwear fitted with ProStinger spikes.

“Winning another major championship is a significant result and demonstrates why the best players continue to choose replaceable spikes on the biggest stages,” said Joe Henderson, President of Softspikes. “Alongside that, reaching 30 consecutive winning weeks on the PGA TOUR is an extraordinary level of consistency. The results and leaderboard data continue to show that replaceable traction remains the clear choice at the highest level of the game.”

Across the three leading Tours, the weekend delivered a major championship, a 30th consecutive winning week on the PGA TOUR and further success on PGA TOUR Champions, underlining the continued dominance of replaceable spikes at the highest level of the game.

Tour players routinely change spikes based on course conditions, but many amateur golfers overlook traction’s impact on consistency and distance. For optimal performance, golfers should replace spikes every 15 rounds.
