Seventeen Straight on the PGA Tour as Replaceable Spikes Dominate Again

Brentwood, Tenn. – The dominance of replaceable spikes on the PGA Tour continues to gather momentum, with this week’s Cadillac Championship delivering a seventeenth consecutive victory for players choosing spikes over spikeless footwear.

At Trump National Doral, the champion produced one of the most commanding performances of the season, securing a wire-to-wire victory with a final round 68 to finish at 19-under par and claim his second PGA TOUR title of the year. Holding a six-shot advantage overnight, he never relinquished control, extending his lead early on the back of three front-nine birdies and ultimately cruising to a six-shot win, one of the largest margins seen on the PGA TOUR this season.

Crucially, the performance was underpinned by a carefully selected traction setup. Competing in FootJoy shoes fitted with a combination of Pulsar and Metal Stinger spikes, the winner showcased the growing trend among elite players to fine-tune their underfoot traction for maximum stability and control in varying conditions.

That attention to detail was reflected across the leaderboard. An impressive 41 of the top 46 finishers opted for replaceable spikes, further reinforcing their position as the preferred choice for players seeking consistency and grip under pressure.

The success extended across the global tours. On the DP World Tour, the Turkish Airlines Open was won in Puma shoes fitted with Tour Flex Pro spikes, while on the LPGA Tour, the game’s leading player secured back-to-back victories competing in Tornado spikes, underlining a growing trend in the women’s game towards performance-driven traction choices. The week was completed on the PGA Tour Champions, where the Regions Tradition was also claimed by a player wearing Tour Flex Pro spikes.

Seventeen consecutive PGA TOUR victories, combined with wins across every major tour this week, further cements replaceable spikes as the performance standard at the highest level of the game.

Joe Henderson, President of Softspikes, said: “To reach seventeen consecutive PGA TOUR victories is an incredible milestone and a testament to the confidence players have in replaceable spikes. When you see a player deliver that level of control in a wire-to-wire win, particularly with a mixed spike setup, it highlights just how important traction has become in modern performance. Across every tour, players are making deliberate choices about what they wear underfoot, and that continued trust is driving our momentum week after week.”

As the season progresses, the trend is becoming impossible to ignore. The world’s best players are not just choosing spikes; they are relying on them to win.

Tour players routinely change spikes based on course conditions, but many amateur golfers overlook traction’s impact on consistency and distance. For optimal performance, golfers should replace spikes every 15 rounds.
