TAG TEAM VICTORY FOR CLEATED FOOTWEAR AT PGA TOUR’S ZURICH CLASSIC
BRENTWOOD, Tenn., – The winning duo playing in the unique two-man team format at the Zurich Classic had one thing in common…both were wearing cleated footwear. The winners were in FootJoy® DryJoy golf shoes featuring Softspikes® Cyclone® cleats and adidas® Tour360 Boa shoes with ThinTech EXP cleats respectively.
“It’s always fun to see a different format played on the tours,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports®. “In these two-man events, you quickly see which pairings work well together and which don’t. Obviously, the winners at the Zurich Classic not only got along great…but they both were wearing cleated footwear to help give them the stability and traction to capture the victory.”
Cleats were not only important to the winners but eight of the top 10 finishing teams also chose replaceable cleat technology over spikeless/tennis shoes. This was also the case on the LPGA Tour, where the winner of the Hugel-Air Premia LA Open was wearing Ecco BIOM golf shoes with Champ® Zarma Tour® cleats, and on the Web.com Tour, where the winner of the Dormie Network Classic was wearing Nike® Vapor React 2 shoes with Softspikes Tornado cleats.
Replacement Softspikes® and Champ cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.
PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP and Softspikes brands. The company recommends golfers change their cleats every six to eight months – or even more frequently based on use – to ensure golfers get the maximum performance out of their footwear.
CHAMP’s Helix®, Zarma Tour® and Stinger® cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix®, Pulsar®, Silver Tornado® and Stealth® cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales. More information can be found at www.champspikes.com and www.softspikes.com.
