Brentwood, Tenn., – Softspikes brought the curtain down on an extraordinary 2026 PGA TOUR season with another victory at the TOUR Championship, as the FedExCup champion trusted Tour Flex Pro spikes on the way to a three-shot win at the season finale.
The victory completed a remarkable year for replaceable spike technology on the PGA TOUR, with 95% of events during the 2026 season won by players wearing Softspikes.
It also extended an exceptional run that saw a player wearing replaceable spikes win on the PGA TOUR in 34 consecutive weeks, underlining the consistency with which the world’s best players have chosen spiked footwear throughout the season.
That dominance was again evident at the TOUR Championship, where 28 of the 30 players in the field competed in replaceable spikes, with the eventual FedExCup champion wearing Tour Flex Pro.
Across the season, an average of 86% of players in PGA TOUR fields chose spiked footwear, while Softspikes technology was trusted by the champions of six major championships across the PGA and LPGA Tours in 2026.
Tour Flex Pro has played a particularly prominent role throughout the year. At the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the opening event of the FedExCup Playoffs, 57% of the field competed in Tour Flex Pro before the same spike technology was worn by the eventual FedExCup champion at the TOUR Championship.
“What we have seen throughout this season goes far beyond an individual tournament or victory,” said Joe Henderson, President of Softspikes. “When 95% of PGA TOUR events are won by players wearing Softspikes, an average of 86% of the field is competing in spikes and 28 of the final 30 players chasing the FedExCup make the same choice, it tells a very clear story about what the best players in the world want beneath their feet.
“What makes those numbers even more powerful is that we do not pay players to wear our products. They make that choice based on performance, and the results across the entire season speak for themselves.”
Softspikes pays $0 in player endorsement fees for the use of its spikes on Tour, with players and their footwear partners choosing the technology based on performance.
The TOUR Championship victory provides a fitting conclusion to a season in which replaceable spike technology has been overwhelmingly represented at the top of the PGA TOUR, from the opening weeks of the year through the FedExCup Playoffs and ultimately the crowning of the season-long champion.
Tour players routinely change spikes based on course conditions, but many amateur golfers overlook traction’s impact on consistency and distance. For optimal performance, golfers should replace spikes every 15 rounds.
