Spikes Continue To Dominate As PGA Tour Streak Extends to 27 Consecutive Weeks Ahead of the Open

July 14, 2026

Brentwood, Tenn. – One of the strongest fields of the season once again delivered the same result, with another PGA TOUR victory for a player wearing replaceable spikes as the remarkable winning streak extended to 27 consecutive weeks.

With many of the world’s best players making their final preparations before The Open at Royal Birkdale, the Genesis Scottish Open provided another compelling reminder that, when the game’s biggest names tee it up, they continue to trust the traction and stability of replaceable spikes.

The winner captured the title wearing Nike golf shoes fitted with ProStinger spikes, while 30 of the top 35 finishers also chose replaceable spikes over spikeless or tennis-style golf shoes.

The result means every PGA TOUR week played so far this season has been won by a player wearing spikes, reinforcing one of the most compelling equipment trends in professional golf.

Joe Henderson, President of Softspikes, said:

“The Genesis Scottish Open attracts one of the strongest fields of the season, making it an ideal test ahead of The Open. Seeing another victory by a player wearing replaceable spikes, alongside 30 of the top 35 finishers making the same choice, reinforces the confidence the world’s best players place in traction when the stakes are at their highest.”

With momentum continuing to build heading into The Open at Royal Birkdale, the season-long evidence remains compelling, with the game’s leading professionals continuing to rely on replaceable spikes when competing at the highest level.

Tour players routinely change spikes based on course conditions, but many amateur golfers overlook traction’s impact on consistency and distance. For optimal performance, golfers should replace spikes every 15 rounds.
