Shreveport, Louisiana – Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport, Louisiana has earned BoardRoom magazine’s Distinguished Club designation with EXCEPTIONAL status for year 2026. The honor recognizes Southern Trace for providing exceptional service, facilities, and amenities, while consistently achieving strong Net Promoter Scores and Member Experience Index metrics.
Each year, BoardRoom magazine, the official publication of the Association of Private Club Directors, recognizes a select number of exceptional private clubs that exceed expectations in the quality of service, facilities, governance, and most importantly the teamwork of the staff and management.

Distinguished Clubs is the only merit-based award program for private clubs, where awarding is determined by an impartial formulaic assessment, rather than a mere peer-based vote of industry insiders. All clubs that have been formally nominated by the Distinguished Clubs Nomination Committee and have been surveyed in person by a Distinguished Clubs survey professional and have earned a satisfactory Net Promoter Score and Member Experience Index, will thereby have earned Distinguished Clubs status. In addition to Distinguished Club status, a club may also be recognized with one of three possible Distinguished Clubs Special Designations, Iconic, Elite or Exceptional.

In 2020, Southern Trace members purchased the club and inherited a failing F&B program, shuttered spaces and years of deferred maintenance. On July 1, 2020, Southern Trace members hired Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon, to manage golf, club and food & beverage operations as well golf course agronomy and membership marketing. Since then, the clubhouse has been reinvented from the inside out with the former massive dining room transformed into four distinct venues: Franklin’s, The Magnolia, The Terrace and The Board Room. Each tailored to member needs while being unified by the design theme of “elevated Southern charm.” A central bar now anchors all venues, serving as a social magnet and functional hub.
In addition to the food and beverage and clubhouse improvements, Southern Trace Country Club members also enjoy a brand-new 70,000-square-foot practice facility, complete with a double-sided practice range, practice greens, and a short-game area that mirrors real on-course challenges. The Club’s Arthur Hills championship course was also brought back to life, with a new irrigation system, re-grassed tee boxes, and fully rebuilt greens that once again meet championship standards. The fitness center also gleams with new equipment, energy and class offerings. Trace Kids thrives in a brighter, larger space. “The Bunker,” a private swing suite with TrackMan technology, gives golfers and guests a new way to play, rain or shine.
