ORLANDO, – Spark Golf launches its seventh season this spring with several new technology features built for both Spark players and course partners. Although Spark is first and foremost a community of 200,000 like-minded social golfers, it’s also a technology company that invests heavily to develop world class products. The two really go hand in hand. “We consistently build new features on three fronts: we continue to improve the experience for our players, for course operators and for the Spark team behind the scenes,” explains Co-Founder and CTO, Pau Barry. “Software is not the end game, golf is, but we are excited about the automation we provide for weekly play.” The platform not only boasts a highly-rated app, earning a stellar 4.9-star rating from over 5K users, but also features a sophisticated and fully propriety back-end system facilitating seamless communication between golf professionals and the hands-on Spark team.
For 2024, a newly built batch registration feature allows players to register early and reserve spots in busy leagues that fill up quickly. This feature alerts courses to open up more tee times if a waiting list grows. The new system also rewards players for signing up ahead of time and allows courses to better plan for high demand nights.
An entire custom course communications tool was also added for the 2024 season. It provides the Spark team with a tool to more efficiently communicate with course partners looking to host a Spark league. “As you can imagine, communicating with over 2,000 course partners with a small team can be tricky, and requires a great deal of automation to get the job done,” says Barry. The tool makes it easy for new and past course partners to provide the details required to launch a league and to promote the league to their audience, if desired.
Other key new features include a new “Champ Store” for Spark winners to select gear with special logos and a tool that notifies course partners when a league night is full so that additional tee times may be offered for sale.
Spark makes it easy for course professionals to jump on board this fast-growing casual golf trend. They can take advantage of all Spark technology without having to download or learn new software.. At no cost to the course, operators can take advantage of Spark’s automated processes to make leagues easy to offer. “Spark Golf takes care of the round registration, pairings, tee-time assignments, live scoring, standings and prizing,” says Barry. He adds, “to further support our course partners and increase player engagement, we have also developed a player app with live leaderboards and easy-to-use scorekeeping.”
Spark Golf celebrates opening week 2024 as it welcomes back golfers for by far its largest season of social league play across the United States and Canada. With over 2,000 leagues scheduled to start throughout the spring, Spark’s 9-hole league play is casual, co-ed and has quickly become a favorite evening social activity among a diverse group of more than 200,000 golfers.
