ORLANDO – Amidst the rolling greens, golfers seek the perfect shot, a chilled drink in the cart and endless blue skies. However, a slow round can quickly transform a bright day on the course into a poor experience. With over 200,000 members embracing a better on-course experience, Spark Golf leagues boast relaxed rules designed to keep rounds quick and vibes high.
There’s no intricate handbook here; Spark keeps it simple. The 5 easy Spark “rules” prioritize pace of play, whether it’s picking up once a player hits their max score, taking a gimme or playing an out of bounds ball close to where it was lost. These rules are built in tandem with the Spark app. The scoring feature shows each player’s max score, so once the max score is reached it’s time to pick up, high five playing partners and move onto the next hole!
Casual and relaxed rules leave players with one priority: fun. Spark Co-Founder, Matt Justine, plays in a weeknight league with family and friends and loves seeing Spark’s vision come to life. “Taking a gimmie within a full putter length of the hole is really starting to catch on. We see players and their partners smiling while quickly walking to the hole with putter in hand to determine whether they can pick up or if they have to grind over a short one. We’ve added these ‘rules’ to make play faster, stress-free and a lot more fun. We continue to develop ideas to improve, but it’s great to see this already working for many of our Spark players and course partners.”
As Spark Golf momentum continues to grow across North America, the commitment to more welcoming and social 9-hole play remains at the heart of its mission. Recognizing the almost unanimous sentiment from players and course partners that pace can always be improved, Spark Golf has a responsive service team and encourages feedback from Spark players. Kendall Hiller, Director of Operations, speaks on Spark’s improvements related to pace of play. “Our team reviews player feedback and pace of play times for all league rounds. From there we can troubleshoot issues within specific Spark leagues and identify trends that help us address pace at a more global level.”
