SPARK GOLF PREPARES FOR 2019 EXPANSION
Emerging Golf Tech Business Prepares to Grow Nationally After Completion of 2018 Beta
Following a successful 2018 season, Orlando-based Spark Golf plans to expand its reach by deploying golf league technology to more than 30 markets and 4,000 golfers in 2019.
Launched April 2018, Spark Golf’s golf league beta generated more than 5,500 rounds for 13 golf course partners in six markets. Spark Golf, who brings people together to play golf, is focused on partnering with golf courses around the country with the goal of providing consumers an on-course experience that results in incremental, net new rounds for the golf course.
“We believe golfers are looking for a more fun, social and slightly competitive experience that provides an opportunity for networking and camaraderie,” says Charlie Klaus, Co-Founder & CEO of Spark Golf. Spark also knows how hard it is to find time to play golf. Golfer, husband and dad, Jimmy Tierney of Ft. Lauderdale, FL now plays more golf than ever due to Spark’s 9-hole ‘appointment golf’ platform where he plays in under 2.5 hours and books his league rounds in advance. “After joining the Spark league, I’ve played more golf in the past 5 months than I’ve played in the last 5 years,” says Tierney.
During the 2018 beta, Spark Golf offered six and eight round leagues conducted in a 2-person team match-play format, powered by industry-leading mobile technology that enables participants to enjoy a digital platform for league scheduling, standings and on-course scoring.
“The Spark mobile app gives players a unique ‘fantasy football’-like experience while giving us the ability to operate the leagues remotely, in turn reducing the burden on golf course staff,” Klaus adds.
Jim Uremovich, Head Golf Professional at Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, SC has seen first-hand the value the partnership with Spark Golf has brought to his course and consumers. “The Spark leagues have created incremental rounds and revenue for our course without much effort on our part. We stage league carts, serve adult beverages and watch our new golfers have an epic time.”
Spark Golf continues to enhance the Spark app while it prepares for further league expansion across the country in 2019. For more information on partnering with Spark Golf, please visit spark.golf.
