LOS ANGELES – Tournament officials announced today that LPGA veteran Emma Talley, Los Angeles resident and Epson Tour winner Muni He and former NCAA All-American and Epson Tour player Yu-Sang Hou have accepted sponsor exemptions to compete in the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro, taking place April 25-28 at Wilshire Country Club in Hollywood.
The JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro will feature a $3.75 million purse, the largest prize fund on the LPGA Tour in 2024 outside of the major championships and the CME Group Tour Championship.
“It is a blessing to partner with the LPGA Tour for the upcoming JM Eagle LA Championship, and we are excited to have Emma, Muni and Yu-Sang join our world-class field as sponsor exemptions,” said Walter Wang, Chairman and CEO of JM Eagle. “The competitive journeys these three have undertaken represent the passion, hard work, and sacrifice it takes to achieve their dreams on the LPGA Tour. We look forward to supporting these great athletes and welcoming them to Wilshire Country Club in April.”
Talley, an LPGA Tour veteran, Epson Tour winner and a former NCAA All-American from the University of Alabama, is competing both on the LPGA Tour and Epson Tour in 2024. She will be making her first LPGA start in 2024 at the JM Eagle LA Championship.
“Wilshire Country Club has always been a favorite stop of mine on the LPGA Tour ever since I recorded my first top-five finish back in 2018,” said Talley. “What Walter and Shirley Wang are doing to enhance this great championship to become a must-attend event for both players and fans is inspiring to all of us on the LPGA Tour. Thank you Walter and Shirley for the opportunity to tee it up against the LPGA Tour’s best.”
Muni He is an Epson Tour winner, Los Angeles resident and former member of the USC Trojans women’s golf team who will be making her second consecutive appearance at the JM Eagle LA Championship as a sponsor exemption. In 2023, she made nine cuts in 14 LPGA events. An honorary member at Wilshire Country Club, He made her full-time debut on the LPGA Tour in 2020 after finishing medalist at the 2019 LPGA Q-Series.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro at one of my home courses, Wilshire Country Club,” said He. “Thank you to Walter and Shirley Wang and Wilshire Country Club for elevating this incredible event and providing me with an opportunity in such of a strong field, I’m looking forward to giving it my best in front of my home crowd.”
Hou, a three-time NCAA All-American and NCAA national champion from the University of Arizona, is a winner on the LPGA of Taiwan (TLPGA) who made her LPGA Tour debut in 2022. She is competing both on the LPGA Tour and Epson Tour in 2024. In her first three starts on the Epson Tour, she has three top-25 finishes, highlighted by a T15 finish at the IOA Golf Classic in Longwood, Florida, in early March. Hou recorded one of her best finishes on the LPGA Tour in 2023 at the JM Eagle LA Championship, finishing T27. She looks to build on that success in 2024.
“I am excited to play in the JM Eagle LA Championship in a few weeks, and am thankful for the invitation that Shirley and Walter have given me,” said Hou. “I played well at Wilshire Country Club last year and hope to play even better there this year. It’s a great course and a great event that I look forward to being a part of.”
They will join an elite international field of 144 players that includes major champions and former world No. 1 players. Nine of the top-10 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings are entered into the championship, including World No. 1 Nelly Korda, No. 2 and Los Angeles resident Lilia Vu, Celine Boutier (3), Ruoning Yin (4), 2019 champion Minjee Lee (5), Jin Young Ko (6), Charley Hull (7), Hyo Joo Kim (9) and Xiyu Lin (10).
