StrackaLine Scans The Vintage Club, California’s Premier Private Club
Acclaimed 36-Hole Facility Will Offer StrackaLine Greens Guides To Its Members
San Diego, Calif. — StrackaLine, one of golf’s leading technology companies, has scanned The Vintage Club in Indian Wells, Calif., and will begin providing the exclusive club with its best-in-the-game greens guides.
Using a 3-D laser scanner, the StrackaLine team collected millions of data points on each green on the Mountain and Desert courses. StrackaLine is using the information to create a topographical map of each putting surface, accurate down to the millimeter.
The data collected is processed by the company’s hydrology software that calculates water drainage flow from the highest points of the green to the lowest, creating golf’s most detailed greens maps.
Both courses at The Vintage Club are Tom Fazio designs and regarded as among California’s best. The Mountain Course, which was voted “2015 Best New Re-Design” by Golf Digest, plays beneath a stunning mountain cove and offers some of the best views in the Coachella Valley.
The Mountain Course, lined with verdant palo verde trees, desert cacti and wildflowers, was ranked as one of the three greatest courses built in the last 20 years by the American Society of Golf Course Architects.
“We are delighted to be providing our industry leading greens guides to The Vintage Club, one of America’s premier private clubs,” said Jim Stracka, president of StrackaLine. “Our goal at StrackaLine has always been to help make the game more enjoyable for golfers, and we look forward to the opportunity to do so at The Vintage Club.”
StrackaLine worked in conjunction with the USGA to ensure its greens guides were in compliance with the governing body’s new interpretation of Rule 4.3, allowing the company to continue to providing its best-in-the-game greens maps to professionals and amateurs.
StrackaLine scans courses for $1,500 and that includes 100 greens guides for resale. The scanning process takes five hours to complete and is unobtrusive to the golfer experience.
StrackaLine’s quality and accuracy have led to widespread adoption on the PGA, LPGA and Web.com tours, in addition to their use by more than 300 Division I college teams.
The greens maps, which feature easy to read arrows, allow players to view contour and fall lines, in addition to slope percentage, anywhere on the green.
StrackaLine now has 900+ courses scanned, including some of the nation’s most prominent layouts.
