STREAMSONG, FLORIDA (July 13, 2018) – Streamsong® Resort is pleased to announce that the Streamsong Black Clubhouse has been named the best new Clubhouse of the Year by Golf Inc. This is the second award that Streamsong has received from Golf Inc. this year. Earlier this year, Streamsong Black was awarded the Best New Golf Development of the Year in the publication’s March/April issue, which opened at the same time as the Streamsong Black Clubhouse in September 2017.
The judges evaluated the entries on four criteria: efficiency, aesthetics, vision, and sustainability. The panelists looked at how well a floor plan maximizes available space, how visually appealing and congruent the design is to its surrounding area, the mission of its developer, and how the clubhouse conserves energy and water to ensure an environmentally sustainable building. Mark Melzer, chairman of Melzer Deckert & Ruder Architects as well as a judge for this year’s competition described the new clubhouse for “the minimal structure [that] allows an all-glass wall system, which celebrates the panoramic natural views. The resort is a facility primarily used for dining and bar activity while taking in the views – for golf purists only.”
The Streamsong Black clubhouse is 7,643 square feet. It includes the resort’s newest dining experience, Bone Valley Tavern, a separate bar, and men’s and women’s locker rooms. Architect Alberto Alfonso of Alfonso Architects designed the new clubhouse. Alfonso Architects also designed the Lodge and the clubhouse on Streamsong Red and Streamsong Blue.
“Our objective was to create a new structure that seamlessly intertwined with the rest of the resort’s stunning architecture yet presented a look and feel all its own” said Richard Mogensen, general manager at Streamsong Resort. “We are confident that Alfonso Architects and our ownership group achieved this balance. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide a 360-degree panorama that envelops our guests with nothing but golf as far as the eye can see. Our newest dining experience, Bone Valley Tavern, completes the clubhouse and has become a favorite amongst golfers.”
All honorees were featured in the July/August issue of Golf Inc. and are invited to attend the Golf Inc. Summit in fall 2018.
Since opening in January 2013, all three of Streamsong’s golf courses–Streamsong Red, Streamsong Blue, and Streamsong Black, have received numerous accolades throughout the golf industry, including Golfweek’s “Best Modern Courses” and “Best Resort Courses,” as well as Golf Digest’s “100 Greatest Public Courses.”
