STREAMSONG GOLF RESORT REOPENS FOLLOWING IMPACT FROM HURRICANE IAN

October 4, 2022

Debris Cleared and Removed, Courses Restored Following Storm

STREAMSONG, FLORIDA  – Streamsong Golf Resort announced this morning it is once again welcoming guest arrivals and has reopened the Lodge and the three award winning courses (Streamsong Red, Streamsong Blue and Streamsong Black) following the impact of Hurricane Ian on September 28.  The storm, which made landfall as a category four just north of Ft. Myers, Florida continued northeast across the state eventually impacting Streamsong as a category two hurricane late Wednesday evening with the eyewall passing just southeast of the 16,000 acre site.

High winds brought minimal damage to the resort buildings, mostly cosmetic in nature.  Heavy rainfall and area flash flooding rendered several local roads impassable by all but a few vehicles limiting access to Streamsong through Thursday and left standing water on the golf courses.  The Lodge, clubhouses and all amenities including the three courses remained closed through Tuesday to allow the team to remove debris, clean up and test all systems and repair natural sand bunkers and cart paths that remained waterlogged through Monday.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all impacted by Hurricane Ian.  We were very fortunate to avoid a direct hit from the storm and are pleased to begin to welcome guests back to the Streamsong experience,” said Kevin Kennedy, general manager at Streamsong.  “Our team planned and prepared for this event and my thanks go out to them for their work in restoring the resort and courses to normalcy as quickly as possible.”

Streamsong is home to the only warm weather destination with three courses ranked in the “Top 40 You Can Play” in the United States by Golf Digest, Golf Magazine and Golfweek, and the only destination in the world with three distinct golf courses designed by legendary architects Coore/Crenshaw, Doak, and Hanse/Wagner.
