Oct. 1 reopening makes Streamsong the first golf destination in the world to showcase Mach 1 on two 18-hole layouts.
STREAMSONG, FLORIDA – Today marks the official public reopening of Streamsong Resort’s Streamsong Blueand Streamsong Red. Both courses have been closed for play as they underwent regrassing with a revolutionary new ultradwarf bermudagrass known as Mach 1. With the new greens ready for play, Streamsong is now the first golf destination in the world to showcase Mach 1 on two-18-hole layouts. The two courses are re-joining Streamsong Black, which is currently celebrating its three-year anniversary.
Guests can be among the first to experience the new greens with the Streamsong Limited Edition Stay & Play 36, available now through Nov. 29. The special package includes a 2020 Titleist® Scotty Cameron Special Select putter of your choice, complete with a headcover. The Streamsong Limited Edition Stay & Play 36 also provides a two-night’s stay in Streamsong’s lakeside Lodge; 36 holes of golf on Streamsong’s nationally rated courses – Streamsong Red and Streamsong Blue; breakfast each day in your choice of restaurants; unlimited play on The Gauntlet, a two-acre 18-hole putting course, and The Roundabout, a seven hole practice facility, on Streamsong Black.
“We could not be more thrilled with the excitement from players everywhere wanting to be the first to come and experience the new Mach 1 greens. The Limited Edition Stay & Play 36 will make their visit to Streamsong that much more memorable as we reveal these extraordinary new greens,” said Scott Wilson, Streamsong’s director of golf. “We strive to always provide the best golf and hospitality experience possible, and appealing packages like this help make that possible.”
Mach 1 was developed by renowned golf course superintendent Rodney Lingle and is distributed by Modern Turf. It has been recognized as one of the cleanest and purest turfs in the industry with a super fine texture and smoothness that creates a high-quality putting surface. Through extensive testing, Mach 1 has been proven to provide smoother ball roll, more uniformed growth patterns in warm weather climates and more stability and longevity. It is a genetically strong, high-end performing turfgrass that is both heat and drought tolerant, which is ideal for Florida’s seasonal environment.
“We did not take this regrassing decision lightly, and spent years ensuring that we were selecting the best possible option for our courses,” said Rusty Mercer, director of agronomy at Streamsong. “We are now certain that Mach 1 was the right choice, and we are proud to officially reopen both courses and share these new greens with players across the globe.”
Streamsong is home to Florida’s highest rated golf collection and the only destination in the world to experience three nationally-ranked courses designed by four legendary architects.
