SuperSpeed Golf, LLC announces the release of its latest golf training product, the SuperSpeed Squeeze. The SuperSpeed Squeeze is the first golf-specific grip strength training aid and includes a full training program to optimize grip strength training for golf.
Grip Strength tends to not be discussed by coaches nearly as often as Grip Pressure. Most coaches will recommend “light” grip pressure to optimize the ability of the wrists and arms to create range of motion during the swing. Research has shown that this tends to be true of PGA Tour Players (60 Kg Capacity) and World Long Drive Players (82 Kg Capacity) who use about 58% and 52% of their grip strength capacity during the golf swing. However, more recent research has also shown that amateur players cannot create anywhere near the same grip strength capacity as professionals. Males average about 42 Kg and Females about 27 Kg. This lack of capacity requires these players to use a much higher percentage of their grip strength during the swing to control the golf club. The answer to this epidemic facing amateur players is to increase their grip strength to allow them to use a lower percentage of their max during the swing.
“Lack of grip strength is an epidemic in the world of golf. A player who can’t properly stabilize the golf club during transition will not only lose a considerable amount of speed, but also will struggle to control the club head, fight casting, and have a hard time with lies in the rough.”
- Mike Napoleon, PGA Golf Coach and Founder of SuperSpeed Golf
The SuperSpeed Squeeze is a simple device that fits over the golf grip of the player’s own golf club. It is recommended for use on a mid-iron for best results. This training is very similar to “fat grip” training that is typically done in the gym for the same purpose of increasing grip strength. The player goes through the included training protocol which involves 5 second isometric holds with each hand, quick burst squeezes, and full golf swings.
“Being able to make full golf swings with the SuperSpeed Squeeze creates maximum transfer of learning for a player to quickly make use of the grip strength they are gaining with this training.”
- Tyler Standifird, PHD, Associate Professor of Biomechanics at Utah Valley University.
The SuperSpeed Squeeze hit the market on December 1st of 2022 and will be featured at the 2023 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL. It retails for $49.99 which includes access to the full grip strength training protocol created by SuperSpeed Golf.
