HARTFORD – SwingU, the golf technology and media company, announced today that the company’s flagship product, the SwingU golf game-improvement app, achieved unprecedented growth over the 2020 golf season.
From May to September 2020, SwingU users played 6.2 million rounds of golf on the app, up nearly 90% year-over-year relative to the same months in 2019. Also, the app’s monthly active user base between May and September 2020 increased by more than 90%, solidifying SwingU as the most reliable and user-friendly golf GPS & scorecard app in the industry.
In addition to simply playing more rounds, SwingU app users were treated to a number of new innovations and features within the app, which kept it at the forefront of golfers’ minds on and off the course.
On the course, the implementation of Hole Insights & Hole Notes gave users the opportunity to strategically compare their statistics on a given hole against other SwingU users, while also allowing golfers to keep their own notes and reminders in their personal digital yardage books.
SwingU Premium app subscribers had their in-app experience vastly improved by the introduction of SwingU Versus, an integrated strokes gained analysis system that allows subscribers to choose a target handicap range, and then tracks and analyzes every facet of a subscriber’s game across driving, approach shots, chipping/pitching, bunker play and putting. Subscribers are now privy to a Tour-level statistics tracking platform that gives them a clear roadmap to improvement using their own on-course data.
Additionally, all SwingU app users were kept in the loop with golf and lifestyle news due to the app’s integration of the SwingU Clubhouse daily e-newsletter & website. From Tour and lifestyle news to instruction and equipment reviews, the Clubhouse app feed added hundreds of thousands of visitors to the editorial platform’s already-robust audience.
Having closed a growth capital raise in the fall of 2019, SwingU has further strengthened its talented and hard-working team, including the addition of a new chief technology officer, five new software developers, two new product managers and a new Connecticut-based paid internship program.
