The creator of WindTag plans to “push the boundaries of technology” to drive innovation in golf
Kennesaw, Ga. – Tagmarshal—the market leader in optimizing on-course operations and pace-of-play management through data-driven software—has named Ben Holbrook as Chief Innovation Officer. Tagmarshal recently acquired Holbrook’s WindIQ, which offers industry-first technology to measure on-hole wind speed, direction, and precise hole location.
Holbrook, an experienced tech entrepreneur and avid golfer, founded WindIQ (now known as Tagmarshal’s WindTag product) in 2023 to provide hyperlocal wind conditions and to automate pin locations. Playing primarily on the West Coast, Holbrook was frustrated by existing apps, which often showed outdated wind conditions miles from the course being played.

In his new role, Holbrook will continue to oversee WindTag while working across Tagmarshal to foster innovation as a core principle. This is part of Tagmarshal’s on-going commitment to technology as the key to improving the player experience while ensuring its sustained growth, adaptability, and position as the market leader in optimization and pace-of-play management.

WindTag helps golfers and course operators “map the invisible hazard,” allowing players to better plan and play their shots. That same tracking also feeds daily hole-location information into Tagmarshal’s system, saving valuable labor time and increasing operational efficiency.
