In this video, Brad Turner, a PGA Certified Professional and Director of Online Golf Instruction at Keiser University College of Golf, shares valuable insights on how golfers can effectively transition their game from the driving range to the first tee, ensuring a strong start to their round.
Brad emphasizes the importance of not just warming up by hitting good shots on the range but also preparing specifically for the shots you’ll face on the course. He suggests a practical strategy used by many PGA Tour players: saving four or five balls towards the end of the warm-up session to practice the specific shot needed for the first hole (or the tenth, if starting on the back nine).
Whether it’s a three-wood or a driver, Brad advises hitting that club five times, focusing on targeting and visualizing the actual hole you’ll be playing. This approach helps in creating a realistic scenario of where to hit and where to avoid, aiming to hit five reasonably good tee shots. This method is not about perfection but about building confidence with playable tee shots that will positively impact the start of your round.
