Entities unite to create transformational and educational experiences with college coaches, juniors, and parents.
DALLAS, Texas – The Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT) has renewed its partnership with College Golf Experience (CGX), an organization that is exclusively endorsed by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). This partnership will provide thousands of TJGT members and parents the opportunity for unprecedented access to college coaches and education about collegiate golf and the recruiting process.
“The TJGT is excited to extend its partnership with the CGX for the next two years. There is so much more to college recruiting, playing college golf and being a college athlete than what’s on a golf resume. CGX camp experiences are a fantastic way to help educate our members on the overall recruiting process while giving them a glimpse into the lifestyle and work ethic required to be a college golfer,” said Travis Measley, Texas Junior Golf Tour Executive Director.
TJGT and CGX will co-develop Preview Camps run in conjunction with TJGT events, along with TJGT building awareness to its members and their families about CGX camps, content, and camp progression to ‘find your fit and find your spot’ in college golf. CGX will support TJGT, their players and families no matter where the junior golfer is in their journey.
CGX has developed five different types of camps: Elite Camps hosted by a single college/university run by men’s and/or women’ coaches, Preview Camps on the front end of a junior golf tournament at the same site as the tournament, and Geographical Showcase Camps focusing on specific regions and hosted at a neutral site by men’s and women’s coaches in all divisions.
In addition, CGX has developed Top100 Camps geared toward the highly ranked player who wants to meet, engage, and learn from the top ranked programs and coaches, and Ivy Golf Institute / DIII Elite Camps geared toward juniors who excel academically and athletically and are looking for an academic-focused college golf experience.
CGX camps are for young men and women ages 12-18. The camp agenda encompasses (depending on the camp type): 30-40 percent education seminars with college coaches on all-things college golf and the pathway to get there. This includes an open Q&A session On-course engagement with college coaches learning course management and strategy including real-time feedback comprises 40-50 percent of the camp. Then, 10-20 percent of the camp covers skill development and challenges with college coaches. This operates similarly to how college programs run their golf practices. Parents are invited to participate and engage every step of the way at the camps.
“Just like everything in Texas, high-level junior golf and collegiate golf is just bigger and undeniably relevant and influential on the national stage. We are excited for CGX to be a small part of that culture,” said CGX CEO Joshua Jacobs. “Our goal is to create events that connect college coaches with TJGT players and parents, while providing education to break down the college golf education barrier and help juniors achieve their goals.”
