Prestigious Golf Award Programme Heads To China
The Asia Pacific Golf Hall Of Fame, the highest and most prestigious award will be making its way to China within the next few months.
This special award was started in 2008 by the Asia Pacific Golf Group (APGG) and was a part of the twenty-year-old Asian Golf Awards.
In announcing the establishment of a permanent home in Haikou, the capital city of Hainan, Mr. Tenniel Chu, Group Vice Chairman of the Mission Hills Group said, “As a serious stake-holder in golf, we have watched the development of the Asia Pacific Golf Hall of Fame and since its launch in 2008, it has grown to become a very special institution to honour the great men and women in our industry.”
The permanent display for the Asia Pacific Golf Hall of Fame will be established at the prestigious Dr. David Chu Golf Museum which is located on the grounds of Mission Hills Shenzhen, China.
“The Museum was originally the family home and it was from this home that my father directed the operations of the Mission Hills Golf Resort – it is now dedicated to the milestones marking his successful life together with various items of memorabilia which were dear to him,” explained Mr. Chu.
One section of these hallowed halls has been given to the Asia Pacific Golf Group to display the awards dating back to 2008. “We are honoured to be granted the use of such a historic venue to serve as the permanent exhibit hall for the Asia Pacific Golf Hall of Fame – before the end of the year we should have the tributes to the inductees proudly place on display for the public to view,” said Mike Sebastian, CEO of APGG.
“This is history in the making and we have Mission Hills to thank for providing such a grand venue to honour the great men and women of golf,” he exclaimed.
Work has already started, and the schedule calls for the permanent Asia Pacific Golf Hall of Fame to be ready by December this year.
APGS is owned and organised by the Asia Pacific Golf Group.
