Naples, Florida – The Club at the Dunes, part of The Dunes of Naples private residential community in Naples, Fla., has been recognized by Club + Resort Business as having one of the “Top Racquet Facilities in the U.S.” The Club at the Dunes, which features six tennis courts, placed number 43 on the prestigious ranking of the top private club and resort racquet facilities for 2021.
The Club at the Dunes offers one of Southwest Florida’s most active tennis communities, with a full-service program that includes six community teams. The tennis program has been led by John and Lisa Preeg for the past 20 years. In May of 2021, following the Preegs announcing their retirement, The Club at the Dunes renamed its tennis facility “The John & Lisa Preeg Tennis Center.” The Preegs have dominated the junior coaching scene in Naples over the past 30 years with many of their students gaining college scholarships and enjoying success on the professional tour. The program will now be led by Cliff Drysdale Tennis, a division of Troon.
Submitted entries for Club + Resort Business’ Top Racquet Facilities were judged independently by a panel comprised of club professionals from several of the industry’s most well-respected properties and a leader in the world of racquet sports. Rankings reflect the judges’ scoring of data provided on the types — tennis, pickleball, squash/paddle/racquetball – and number of courts at the property; retail/F&B size (sq. ft.) for racquet-specific facilities; average total monthly plays; member usage (% of total membership); number of interclub teams and junior players; full-time and part-time/contract staff; photos and more.
The Club at the Dunes’ six tennis courts and pro shop are conveniently located adjacent to its wellness center, resort-style pool and guest cottages.
In 2019, The Dunes of Naples completed a $9.2 million Amenities Center renovation and expansion project. The new coastal-themed Amenities Center includes a new 25,000 square-foot clubhouse with the new Royal Palm Room restaurant; a new SandBar indoor/outdoor bar; and a flexible club room for events. In addition, the club’s new Tiki Bar is a popular poolside destination for residents and guests. As part of the renovation and expansion, the entire pool area was renovated and now includes fire pit tables and a lounge area in a new courtyard. The Club at the Dunes’ wellness and fitness center was also expanded, adding a group exercise room, two rooms dedicated to massages or physical therapy, a new tennis office and pro-shop and a new recreational game room equipped with pool table, ping pong tables and shuffle board.
The Dunes of Naples is comprised of seven high rise towers of high-end luxury condos and 40 luxury coach homes. Troon, the world’s largest golf and club management company, manages the food and beverage operation as well as the recreational amenities at The Dunes of Naples.
