Santa Rosa, Calif. – Four years after the Tubbs Fire swept through The Fountaingrove community in Santa Rosa, Calif., destroying 1,700 homes, the clubhouse, golf shop, dining facility, tennis hut and agronomy center, The Fountaingrove Club has reached its membership cap of 368 members. The noteworthy milestone illustrates how far the club and community have come in a short time, growing from just over 200 members in 2017 to now having a waitlist for memberships.
This December, The Fountaingrove Club will unveil a new $16.5 million clubhouse. The two-story, 22,100 square-foot building is set on the same location as the previous clubhouse and will feature a golf shop, office space, meeting space as well as men’s and women’s locker rooms on the lower level. The clubhouse’s upper level will include a large kitchen designed to support a newly conceptualized menu with efficiently planned prep, cook and storage areas; a meeting room; two dining venues; and two outdoor dining terraces. The new building embraces wine country ease with understated elegance, while integrating indoor activities with outdoor spaces. The design features natural materials including stone, wood, glass and steel, while showcasing the natural beauty of the area.
“After the loss of our clubhouse in 2017, we engaged members’ needs and wants with the challenge of taking diversity and building it into opportunity,” said Fountaingrove Club Board President Marshall Andrew. “Guided by our Strategic Plan, members got excited to design and build our future clubhouse while remaining loyal and supportive of the challenge ahead.
Our goal was not only member retention, but increasing our total membership to the limits defined in our club’s restated bylaws. With the promise of a new clubhouse that would meet our needs today and the future, and upgrading our golf course and Athletic Center, our Membership & Marketing Committee engaged in an impressive campaign ‘to make our community much more then it was prior to the fire.’ With the opening of our new clubhouse and sold out membership, we are ready to deliver on that promise.”
The Athletic Center, which survived the October 2017 fire, quickly became the hub of club and community activities. Members have enjoyed club dining options in an array of settings with wood-fire pizza ovens and portable culinary facilities providing members with fresh, local cuisine in a variety of locations, including on the practice range, next to the pool or in the Athletic Center.
Located in the hills northeast of Santa Rosa, The Fountaingrove Club has been managed by Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon, since January 2019 and is Sonoma County’s only member-owned, 18-hole, private facility. The club features a beautiful Ted Robinson Sr.-designed golf course that boasts spectacular views of the Hood and Taylor Mountains as well as the rolling hills of Santa Rosa Valley. As part of the expansive Athletic Center complex, there are five tennis courts and a 25-yard infinity swimming pool. Members also enjoy an impressive array of fitness opportunities including martial arts, yoga, aquatics, personal training, spin and strength training. The Fountaingrove Club is a proud BoardRoom Magazine Distinguished Club
