Members of The Landings Club gather together to raise money for cancer research
SAVANNAH, GA – The Landings Women’s Golf Association (LWGA) will host their annual cancer re-search tournament April 12-20 at The Landings Club.
Together for a Cure (TFAC) began in 2004 as a golf tournament exclusive to members of the LWGA, previously called Golf for a Cure. In 2019, the golf tournament expanded to include members of the Landings Men’s Golf Association and the Landings 9-Hole Golf Association. This year, the tourna-ment expands into a multi-day tournament featuring golf, pickleball, tennis, and more. Please see the full schedule of events below.
Proceeds from TFAC go directly back into the Savannah community. For the third year in a row, the tournament funds will go to Mercer University School of Medicine Summer Scholars Program.
“Throughout the years, even as the golf tournament has morphed, LWGA’s focus has continued to support locally with the intention to impact broadly,” says Tournament Chair Shirley Newhart. “A total of 570 participants are supporting our efforts.”
In 2019 (the last year of TFAC), the tournament filled all six Landings Club golf courses and raised $102,670 for Mercer School of Medicine. Mercer was able to purchase highly sophisticated, cutting-edge medical equipment to support research opportunities with the tournament funds. Since its in-ception, TFAC has raised over one million dollars for cancer research.
