Thor Guard and Rapid Risk Reduction (R3) Partner to Provide Full Safety Precautions and Assistance During High Heat Conditions

July 30, 2026

Sunrise, FL,  – Thor Guard, the world’s leading lightning warning system, has announced it has partnered with Rapid Risk Reduction (R3) and its portable HEATbox to provide lifesaving tools to tend to victims and provide help prior to the arrival of emergency medical personnel.

In the joint announcement, Robert Dugan, Thor Guard CEO and President, and Conor Markins, Founder/CEO of R3, noted that “Our two companies have recognized the danger of severe heat conditions and together have formulated a comprehensive plan on how to care for individuals who have suffered a serious heat-related issue.

“We have been impressed with Thor Guard’s global ability to predict and detect severe weather events including exceptionally high temperature conditions,  and combined with our company’s lifesaving tools (such as the HEATbox) that include a bilingual, video-led training guide, we believe our collaborative efforts will fast-track necessary medical care to individuals who may be harmed by incidents such as heat exhaustion or stroke (caused by the heat and other weather elements). We are so pleased to be an integral part of this partnership,” said Markins.

Markins noted that his company, just as Thor Guard does, serves schools and universities, public spaces, buildings and warehouses, sports arenas and golf courses and clubs. HEATbox is an innovative life-saving emergency response station for teams working in high temperature environments and rely on its simplicity to aid emergency medical personnel in caring for an individual such as a golfer who has suffered a heat-related condition and requires immediate treatment.

HEATBox’s proprietary video technology walks pro shop staff, course marshals, coaches, and facility employees through a step-by-step guide on how to recognize the signs of heat illness and respond correctly. “Because the training is video-based rather than a written manual or one-time in-person session, facilities can quickly onboard new, seasonal staff quickly which is a meaningful gap Thor Guard’s existing lightning-alert customers don’t have a current solution for,” Markins said.

For over 50 years, many government agencies and businesses have relied on Thor Guard, the nation’s oldest lightning and storm detection and prediction company as their weather safety partner.  Together, Thor Guard’s prediction technology and HEATbox’s response tools extend Thor Guard’s safety mission beyond weather alerts to cover the full range of environmental risk its customers face on the course, field or campus. “It has always been our goal to protect human life and with our new relationship with R3 we continue to do so,” said Robert Dugan.
