Naples, Fla. – Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples is in the midst of a two-week run of hosting back-to-back professional golf events. This week’s QBE Shootout brings 24 of the world’s best PGA TOUR professionals to Southwest Florida, while next week’s CME Group Tour Championship, to be played December 17-20, will be the LPGA Tour’s season-ending event. In addition, it was recently announced that the PGA TOUR Champions’ Chubb Classic will be played at Tiburón Golf Club April 12-18, 2021.
Founded in 1989 by Tournament Host and World Golf Hall of Famer, Greg Norman, the 32nd QBE Shootout is being played on Tiburón’s Greg Norman-designed Gold Course. The 2020 field of 24 includes PGA TOUR professionals Tony Finau, Team Troon-member Matt Kuchar, Steve Stricker, Bubba Watson and Matthew Wolff competing in 12 two-man teams. Competition formats include Scramble (Friday), Modified Alternate Shot (Saturday) and Four Ball (Sunday). Friday’s first round will be broadcast live by Golf Channel from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST, Saturday’s second round will be broadcast live on Golf Channel from 1 to 5 p.m. EST, and Sunday’s final round will be live on NBC from 12 to 2 p.m. EST, then shifts to Golf Channel from 2 to 4 p.m. EST. Proceeds from the 2020 event will benefit CureSearch For Children’s Cancer. In the tournament’s history, the QBE Shootout has raised more than $14 million for a variety of worthy charities, including CureSearch for Children’s Cancer.
CME Group Tour Championship will also be played on Tiburón’s Gold Course and will feature a field of the top 60 point earners and ties from the season-long Race to the CME Globe competition. Established in 2011, the event has been played at Tiburón Golf Club since 2013. All four rounds of the season-ending championship will be broadcast on Golf Channel with final round coverage on NBC. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Due to COVID-19, both the QBE Shootout and the CME Group Tour Championship will be played without spectators in attendance as the health and safety of the Naples community, PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour professionals, caddies, sponsors, fans, and volunteers are the top priority.
