NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., – Tidewater Golf Club unveiled plans for an exciting bunker renovation project that will enhance playability and strategic design. This investment will ensure that Tidewater Golf Club remains one of the top golf experiences in the expansive Myrtle Beach golf market.
In addition to bunkers, several holes at Tidewater Golf Club will be modified to increase playability and strategy. During the renovation, daily play will be minimally impacted, and guests can expect the same exceptional golf experience they have become accustomed to at Tidewater Golf Club.
“Tidewater is one of the top-rated courses in Myrtle Beach and we want to continue to invest in the club ensuring that it maintains that status. This renovation marks one of the key strategic upgrades planned for Tidewater Golf Club,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner.
“We are excited about the evolution and modernization of Tidewater Golf Club,” said General Manager Chris Cooper. “We believe this bunker renovation will be vital to the continued success of the club.”
Situated along the picturesque Carolina coastline and nestled between the Intracoastal Waterway and Cherry Grove Inlet, Tidewater Golf Club was designed by local architect Ken Tomlinson. Upon opening in 1990, the course was named “Best New Public Course” in America by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. Since then, Tidewater has continued to be one of the Myrtle Beach-area’s most celebrated designs and earned additional awards and accolades from leading publications and organizations.
In 2022, the course was named South Carolina’s Golf Course of the Year by the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association. Recently, the course appeared on Golf Digest’s 2023-2024 “Best in State” rankings and reached No. 7 on Golfweek’s “Best Courses You Can Play 2023 State-By-State” list and No. 4 on GolfPass’ 2023 Golfers’ Choice list of best courses in South Carolina.
While the course tips out at just over 7,000 yards, nine of Tidewater’s 18 holes play along the water to provide a one-of-a-kind golf experience. One of Tidewater’s most distinguishing features is the unparalleled preservation of the surrounding natural environment. Thoughtfully designed to coexist harmoniously with the local flora and fauna, Tidewater provides an immersive golfing experience through the natural Lowcountry landscape while maintaining the ecological integrity of the area.
