Exotics CBX ranked as the #1 hybrid model at major event with 13 clubs in play
Tour Edge experienced their best ever all-around week in a professional tour event Sunday at the second Major event of the year on the PGA Tour Champions in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Not only did Exotics CBX hybrid staff players Tim Pertovic and Scott McCarron finish 2nd and 3rd, respectively, at the PGA Tour Champions oldest Major, but Tour Edge also experienced their most ever recorded clubs in play in a professional tour event with 21 total clubs in play.
Thirteen of those clubs were Exotics CBX hybrids, ranking Exotics CBX as the #1 hybrid model in play at the Senior PGA Championship, according to the Darrell Survey.
The runner-up finisher, Petrovic, played three Tour Edge clubs to a 15-under-par finish; an Exotics CBX 15 degree 3-wood, an Exotics CBX 18 degree 5-wood and an Exotics CBX 19-degree Iron-Wood with a UST VTS shaft.
Petrovic jumped up the Charles Schwab Cup standings from 33rd to 11th after earning $347,000 with the runner-up finish this week. His 2nd place finish was his best ever finish at a Major event.
Petrovic told the Tour Edge Tour Representatives this week that he was able to hit the Exotics CBX Iron-Wood up to 270 off the tee and was able to hit a nice consistent “stinger” shot with the new club. He stated he hit the club around eight times in play at the Regions Tradition the previous week and that it had become a “go to” club for him leading into the major.
The 2nd place finish for Petrovic makes it seven runner-ups for players playing Tour Edge in the last 11 events. It also marks four straight events with a runner-up finish and two in a row at a Major event.
McCarron finished in 3rd this week for his second straight Top 5 finish in a major event while playing a 19 degree CBX hybrid with an Aldila Tour Green 105 X-shaft. He now ranks 8th in the 2018 Charles Schwab Cup standings. McCarron now has racked up a total of six Top 10 finishes this year.
There are seven players in the Top 30 on the PGA Tour Champions currently playing Exotics CBX clubs.
On top of the Exotics hybrid staff players in the field this week (Bart Bryant, Scott Dunlap, Fred Funk, Tom Lehman, McCarron, Rocco Mediate, Pestrovic, Duffy Waldorf), Tour Edge also got a boost from four European players and three PGA of America Professionals who had qualified that had Exotics CBX in the bag or who tested this week on the range in Benton Harbor.
Tour Edge also picked up a 14-time PGA TOUR winner this week, making for 16 total players in the field playing Tour Edge equipment. The majority tested Exotics CBX this week for the first time and decided to put it into the bag just days before the event was to start.
“The coolest aspect of the week was that we had so many different players show up in Michigan who tested Exotics CBX for the first time a couple of days before the tournament began,” said Founder and President of Tour Edge David Glod. “For so many of those clubs to make it into play at such a huge event for these international players and PGA of America Professionals, it really goes a long way in showing us how good Exotics CBX really is for the best players in the world.”
“We were ecstatic to have our staff players Tim and Scotty compete for the championship and to watch them hit so many great shots with our clubs on the NBC coverage,” continued Glod. “For us to have gained so many new players, to set a new watermark of 21 clubs in play at a Major and to earn the #1 hybrid model distinction at such a huge event put on by the PGA of America, it really was a dream come true week for Tour Edge and Exotics every way you look at it.”
About Exotics CBX
Exotics CBX are the only metal woods ever designed to feature a Titanium face, stainless steel body and carbon fiber sole. The Exotics CBX hybrid’s higher CG is located slightly forward in the club head through the use of a carbon fiber in the sole, which is significantly lighter than stainless steel. This helps to increase ball speed and reduce spin, which makes for less dispersion. Tour Edge’s extremely thin Beta-titanium cup-face enlarges the ideal hitting area on the clubs. It is brazed to stainless steel behind the hitting area which allows the face to flex more at impact, while the Speed Ramp sole design provides reduced turf interaction so the club can maintain its speed through the hitting area. The Tour Edge Exotics CBX fairway woods, Exotics CBX hybrids and Exotics CBX Iron-Woods are currently available at select authorized Tour Edge retailers.
